i have personally seen Tony Shalhoub (Monk) and David Keockner (imdb.com him and you might recognize him) driving a Prius.

i have also seen Ed Begley, Jr. WALKING from a local store to his house with heavy grocieries in hand. he is no B.S.-er

Reese Witherspoon drives a Lexus RX hybrid.

 

Why give stars a pass on what car they occasionally drive? They own (multiple) houses big enough to have their own zip codes and they take private jets all over the world. For them to save a couple gallons of gas is nothing compared to the lifestyle cutbacks they could be making and ask us to make.

Because people pay attention to them. If they do something, that makes it "cool" and OK for other small easily influenced minds to emulate. Since such folk cannot afford the Big House or LearJet, maybe they can afford a Prius. Maybe the only thing holding them back is that they think it is "nerdy.' But in (insert name of hunk or babe here) is driving one, it now becomes OK.

Most of them have worked hard for their money and/or have exceptional talents, why live like a hermit. You have one life to live. If you can afford a LearJet, go for it!

Is it hypocritical when Al Gore tells you how to live to save the environment, yet he doesn't even want to install solar pannels in his main residence to cut down on his outrageous electrical consumption, OF COURSE. Does he, regardless, help the environmental cause with his activism, ABSOLUTELY.

So, that's why we should "give them a pass." Regardless of their extravagant lifestyles, they do a lot to help. If it wasn't for the star-power behind it, Prius would have very possibly failed, as it was predicted by all analysts when it first came out.

Do as I say, not as I do still does the trick.

Not all of them live like this. In fact, I'd say a very small percentage of the Screen Actor's Guild or Actor's Equity live like that. I'd say there's probably a higher percentage in the upper eschelons of the business world that have multiple residences and do a lot of flying by either private or company jet.

Let me get this straight. You're saying that Hollywood is helping sell cars to the mentally challenged.

I'd like to think that this country isn't made up of weak-minded masses waiting for Hollywood to tell them what to do. The success of the Prius is due more to its green reputation and excellent gas mileage than the fact that a starlette saved a gallon of gas and 19.5 lbs of carbon emissions arriving at the Academy Awards.

Don't get me started.

Although this is a great country, the masses are really stupid most of the time. The corporations are glad to keep them that way, and Hollywood is merely a cog in the machine.
