    Fred, the gnarly part of the problem is that a person suffering from Alzheimer's often slips in and out of lucidity. One minute they're thinking normally, the next minute they're completely lost. So, in a lucid period, she could possibly operate the car, especially if she'd done so before the dementia began.

    If you're going to use a knife switch, then, by God, use a serious knife switch!

    One like Dr. Frankenstein used. I couldn't find a picture on the web.

    Ah, now I'm happy. Technically, that looks like a power-grid switch, but it's all we've got till someone finds a photo of the one on the wall of Dr. Frankenstein's lab.
