    I live in the Dallas, TX area. I ordered from the closest Plug-In dealer in Tucson, AZ. I'll fly there, pick it up, and then drive the 1,000 miles home, enjoying driving my plug-in all along the way. The dealer there will charge me the 6 1/4 percent tax that I would pay in Texas. Texas will recognize that tax paid. I have to pay 2 percent Tucson City Tax which is the same as the local tax if I had purchased the car in Texas. So, the taxes are a wash.

    All kidding aside...

    I knew about the taxes in Oregon and contacted two dealers in Portland. Both seemed completely clueless about the Prius ordering system. I had a very good recommendation from someone for Dianne so I went with Carson. She has shipped cars to out of state buyers before so that was another plus.

    I guess the 'scare' of not having enough cars didn't materialize. At least it got me to register early. My current car is crap and may not last too much longer. Gettin in the queue to get an early delivery was impotant in that regard.

    California, the land of Fruits and Nuts as my Drill Instructor loved to say.
    Dealership is 2 miles from home (less than a mile as a crow flies) otherwise I would have gone with Dianne. I could have been her 901st customer.
    I can see the delivery trucks pulling in from my balcony with binoculars!!!!
    I will be looking for my Clearwater Blue !!!

    Proud to say Ohio after much struggling yesterday. I saw only one other person claiming to have ordered from Ohio. Does that mean my clearwater blue Pip is the second in whole of Ohio? I certainly hope first in Cincinnati :cheer2:

    That is the exciting part about having to order the car out of state (because your own state isn't one of the initial launch states): You will be driving around in a car that very people have (or understand).

    (Almost makes up for the pain-in-he-butt of having to arrange to get your new PiP to your home state) :)

    I plan on flying to VA and driving back home. It would be awesome to be driving around in an electric car when people have no clue that such a Prius exists. Also I chose clearwater blue to differentiate my car from 2012 Prius, if I am not wrong that color is not being offered in 2012 Prius, but I could be wrong as well.

    I am quite certain that the 'clearwater blue' is not offered in the new 2012 plugless Prius. I like the clearwater blue much better because it isn't neatly as dark as the blue available for the plugless Prius. I'm certain that being able to visibly see the difference was no accident.

    I live in Minnesota and I'm buying mine from Carson Toyota in California. I think I will have it shipped to Minnesota. I'd be a little concerned about driving a brand new car so many miles fresh out of the factory. It would take a long time, too! :)
