When I bought my 2010 three years ago the engine was very clean. Now not so much.
Can I use my steam cleaner on my engine to get the dust and grime off? Or should I just leave it alone

I'd use vacuum, compressed air brushes, IF it bugs you. I'd avoid spraying water in there.

Are you driving on dirt roads?

Is the engine underpanel intact and complete? It helps some.

Something else you can do, is push some foam tubing (the type they use for insulating hot water plumbing pipes) onto the crimped edges down the sides of the engine bay: seals it a bit better.

Steam cleaning may damage important sensors in the engine compartment, so I wouldn't risk it.
