Just bought an 05 yesterday. It has 193k. The steering seems to have some play and an occasional clunking sound when turning the wheel. I do not know of a dealer or an independent shop that will give me an honest opinion or quote. Any suggestions or similar problems? LA here.

The reason Bisco said to check the owner's site is that there was a recall on the steering column of early Gen2 Prii (mine is an 04) and it was to fix your symptoms. It is a $700-$900 job if you have to pay for replacing the steering column.
