I was watching KTLA this morning when they broke to a live shot of a high speed Los Angeles Police pursuit. On camera, the stolen SUV tried to pass on the right of what was identified as a Prius. The driver clipped the right rear of the Prius, lost control of the SUV, sheared off a fire hydrant, rolled the vehicle and took out a light pole. The Prius driver calmly pulled over to the curb.

I know it's all about physics (angles and speeds) but it was nice to see a Prius come out better than an SUV in a wreck.

Every now and then.......David kicks Goliath's tail.

However (comma!!) before you go out to the sling store or think about eschewing your seatbelt, it's important to know that....yes, the SUV-let grazed the Prius and nosed over when its right front tire hit the curb at speed as it was (foolishly) trying to pass on the right.
Fortunately the Prius (v?) driver didn't do what 99.9999 percent of people do when their cell phone time is interrupted by external events, which is slam on their brakes.
People out on the left coast like to identify anything bigger than a small passenger car that doesn't have a truck bed as an "SUV" but it looked more like a small crossover, which is a minivan dressed up to look more like.........an SUV.
    It's a packaging thing.

As long as force equals mass times acceleration, and as long as Priuses have to sacrifice ride height for drag, Prius > Truck will always be the man bites dog story on the nightly news.

It not necessarily fair, but that's life for you.
Goliath of Gath was a champion warrior, which means that he regularly won such contests.......but do not despair.
If you read the entire David v Goliath story, young David was unafraid AND he regularly tangled with large predatory animals while on duty as a shepherd......and won.

Agility and intelligence will always have a fair fight out in the real world when pitted with mass and armor.
    Of course......luck and 10 airbags don't hurt either...... :D
