Hi. This is a question to all who recently purchased a Prius Prime new from a dealer: Did the manuals come in a nice case, like it did for my RAV4 many years ago. Mine was sort of stuffed in the glovebox loose. Should I ask the dealership to get me a case? Or is this the way they are packaging the manuals these days?

Mine came in nice Toyota leather case, I would definitely ask! You'll use them a lot with all of this technology and it helps keep them in good condition

there is already thread on this. it is dealer specific, toyota only ships loose manuals.
you can certainly ask, it never hurts.

if they don't offer anything, look on line and treat yourself. after all, you saved a fortune on the car.(y)

It's funny. Mine were loose and barely fit in the glove box. I did get a little sleeve thing for my insurance cards and even that is tough to fit in the glove box. I also ordered another pair of sun glasses to use while driving because my current sunglasses don't fit in the sunglasses overhead dropdown case. It's a bit annoying but it goes away quick when I drive it (it's so fun to drive) and when I realized how little gas I am going to need.

I won't trust the overhead dropdown case. I used to keep a pair of prescription glasses up there in my Gen 2 and they were destroyed by the heat over time.

Which is probably why those boxes have warnings to not put glasses in them. :)

Toyota may only ship with loose manuals, but I still think it's a bit surprising a dealership doesn't' offer some type of case. I've never bought a new vehicle where the dealership DIDN'T present me with at least a vinyl case. They usually want to stick their own business cards and service center contact numbers in.

I'd ask. If they do? They do. If they don't? At least you plant the seed in the dealerships mind that it might be a good idea.

A new vehicle is a big purchase for most people. I think it's pretty cheap of a dealership if they don't offer a case.

Mine came in a case (synthetic, I think, not leather). Problem is the manuals and case take up so much space in the undersized glove box, there's barely room for anything else. All the manuals are available as PDFs - download and store in the cloud (e.g,, dropbox) to access online as needed, and keep the manuals in the house to free up storage space in the car!

Adding a question to this discussion, has anyone found a better place to store the manuals instead of the glove box? They're large enough to make the glove box unusable for other items.

I keep the PDF's of the manuals on my iPad. Then when I want to look something up, I just look there

I do have the manuals on my iPad but don't always have my iPad in the car. Reading the file on my iPhone is tedious but could work if necessary. My wife is a little bit anxious about not having the physical manuals in the car.

I'm thinking of moving manuals to where my EVSE was stored, since I keep my EVSE in my garage. It would be nice to have a little extra storage in the cabin. Emphasis on the world little.

My Prime did not come with leather case, but my previous Gen3 which I traded in did. I guess I could have asked for a new one, but I just kept one from Gen3. The problem is that not all of manuals fit in the case anyway. n fact, Ithey bearly fit in the glove box, but if I move them out of the car, I WILL lose them, so I have to keep them there.:(

Electric vehicle supply equipment. I think he means the charging cable that came with the car - so he's leaving that in garage and putting his manuals in the slot in the trunk.

Happy wife, happy life. Definitely find a spot to keep them in the vehicle. ;)
