So recently i posted about my wife's prius had started misfiring and shaking violently suddenly while going down the road. We had it towed back home I checked all of the usual things. I checked to see if the egr valve was stuck open but blocking it off changed nothing. I had cleaned the egr and egr cooler about 20k ago when i replaced the head gasket. I replaced the plugs and coils as I had some extras and it did not fix the misfires. I cleaned the map sensor as well as mass air flow sensor and also pulled the injectors and replaced them with some others i had. It had to be one of those last three items, the injectors, map sensor, or mass air flow meter (and i regret cleaning the sensors and swapping out the injectors all at the same time because Im not sure which was truly the culprit to causing the misfiring) but one of them was the cause. The car seems to start and run fine now but it has a very strong exhaust smell from the tailpipe now. At first i thought it might take a min for the computer to learn the new injectors, plugs, coils etc and I had had the 12v disconnected, but its day 2 and its still giving off the strong exhaust smell. Again, no misfires or codes popping up so far, just the strong smell. Any advice on what to check? Thanks in advance
