Lincoln blackwood (its a $65,000 yuppie pick up truck with a powered toneau cover/lift gate)

Anything that just puts "BLACKWOOD" across the back on the lift gate is just wrong.

I've seen about 5 of them in the total, the first with the BF sitting in my passenger seat screaming at the top of lungs.... OMG ITS A BLACKWOOD! I think I gave him the most horrified look, and he was like no no its a truck, and we make the powered latches and stuff for it at work.... apparently lincoln doesn't sell many.

    oh and the edselwood.

Let's see--the Blackwood Convention is a thing (the technical term) in bridge...sounds like you COULD fit a convention in a blackwood...But omg--a $65k PICKUP TRUCK? What do they pick up? Gold bars for deposits in the bank?

And, madame strict rulemaker here...cars named after carmakers' kids are kinda borderline out of bounds--I mean, there'd be no Mercedes...

Ford Falcon from the 70s or 80s..... not much of a Falcon, maybe closer to pinto performance... still, a comfortable car.

buick century: is that how old you have to be to drive one?
buick la crosse: when this came out i lived in la crosse, wi... and the local radio folks found out that in canada it is slang for masturbation... bet they market that one under a different name in canada!
    pontiaz aztek: Wth?
ford's new campaign to name all of their cars with something that starts with an F... i can think of a name for em... ;)
ford focus... while i'm on ford... focus on what? the pricetag seems to be the only decent thing about it
ford five hundred: approximately how many they sold
and what about mercury and their M names? do you have to resort to this in order for the general public to remember your vehicles?
the lincoln aviator: we were just laughing at one of these on the road the other day, "well he must be confused, after all he's *driving* an *avaiator* i mean, doesn't that sound like something you should be *flying*??
lincoln zephyr: i wouldn't be caught dead in something called a zephyr, i do not know about you
kia optima: isn't that an oxymoron?
chevy avalanche: yes, let's name our cars after natural disasters... anyone see foreshadowing?
chevy suburban: hey at least they're honest... the vast majority of em will never leave suburbia
pontiac torrent: a *heavy* and *uncontrolled* outpouring (of rain, curse words, whatever) either way it doesn't sound like something i'd wanna be driving...

It seems to me this one is even stupider than THAT, as the aviator IS the pilot who DOES the flying...So, what we have here is a $40k SUV that doesn't even need you...and haven't we all heard about what happens around vehicles that drive themselves...?

The Chrysler Concorde. It looks more like a grape than an airplane.

Here's a list of boring cars named after exciting places:

Dodge Aspen (they've recycled the name; now there's a chrome-laden SUV called a Chrysler Aspen)
    Chevy Malibu
    Seat Ibiza
    Ford Grenada
    Chevy Corsica
    Hyundai Santa Fe
    Hyundai Tuscon
    Chevy Tahoe
    Chrysler New Yorker
    Dodge Daytona
    Dodge Monaco
    Mitsubishi Eclipse
    Saturn
    Chevy Monte Carlo
    Chevy Bel Air
    Cadillac El Dorado
    Suzuki Reno
    Toyota Sequoia
    Ford Fairmont
    Mercury Monterey
    Pontiac Montana
    Kia Rio
    Pontiac Phoenix
    Pontiac Ventura

    Funny eh..

    At DC headquarters:

Hmm.. we need another SUV to boost sales but we don't want to waste money creating another one. What can we do? The Chrysler brand must have a halo SUV just like we have the T&C minivan. I know! We shall take the Dodge Durango, steal the Aspen name from Dodge too and we'll call it the Chrysler Aspen! It's brilliant! It'll have a big chrome grille like the 300.

    The AMC "Gremlin".
    As defined by Merriam Webster's:
grem-lin: a cause of error or equipment malfunction.
Nonetheless, successful in spite of (or perhaps because of) its name.
