    Now that's funny.

Kindred spirits, or common mission to rid the world of ICE's? Mmmm....

I think we understand your point. I'm satisfied with the results. But if you're not, maybe you can fund the research with a half dozen Prius's, determine the results and get back to us! :thumb:

actually ...engineer my comments were directed at 32K colors who was calling out another user.

i hope you are a better engineer then you are at connecting the dots!!

I wasn't aware they weren't even going to test a Prius. And really, 6 cars tested, TOTAL? And half of those weren't even fully tested. Not very impressive.

    The best quote I found from all the reading on the NASA report;

"While some safety advocates have pointed to an increase in reports of unintended acceleration after Toyota switched to using electronic throttle control, NASA said in its report that it found no such correlation. Reports of sudden acceleration in Toyota cars did spike whenever there was national publicity focused on the issue, however, NASA said."

Yep, it's the Pepsi scare all over again and one would have to be delusional to believe it only happens in the Prius when many Toyota models are involved in SUA claims.

Considering that Camry had more fatalities linked to this alleged problem than any other model, this seems consistent with the situation.

The report is justified and should be big news on 2002-2007 Camry forums. But Hybrid Synergy Drive is so much different than a standard Camry that the study doesn't really relate to the Prius.

Give it up already. You're not helping by citing a study funded by lawyers who are suing Toyota and might be using skewed statistics. Government Motors would be all over it if they were true. Can you make it more clear you have a deep-seated agenda?

It's just like I predicted in another thread, trolls will scream about the study being flawed and point to bogus "proof" to continue their campaign!

What flaws did Belt show? I see (emphasis added):

    "Possible faults ..."
"Transients ... can lead to latch-up"
"Improper power sequencing can lead to latch-up"
"DC offset ... can lead to op amp phase inversion"
    "Potential Power Sequencing Issue"
    "Possible Faults in ..."
    "Glitches ... can cause latch-up"

Belt summarizes common problems that have occurred in past electronics designs, and could occur again if engineers don't adequately design and test their product. But he did not demonstrate any of these potential problems actually happening in Toyotas. Re-read page 18 (major bullet points only):

Where Do We Go From Here?
•Need teardowns to validate circuit diagram
•Need fast scope observations of real circuit nodes and power supplies on vehicles
•Need to induce transients conductively into real circuits on vehicles
•Require Toyota to supply circuit schematics and to explain how SUA occurs when faults they cite take place at the cited circuit node.

I.e. he has not yet done the real work needed to show whether or not any of these potential flaws actually exist in Toyota products.

I see inadequate backing for his claim that "Only latch-up can explain the Haggerty (NJ) 2007 Avalon incident". But that car would be an excellent test article to acquire for testing of his list.

When did Alice and Randy Whitfield, d.b.a. Quality Control Systems Corporation, become NHTSA?

They didn't test a Prius or even a hybrid Camry. Not one, not 58, not 3000. None.

IMO that's a flawed report if we're talking about Prius cars.

Did I say they were? The subject of the sentence is "NHTSA data".

"NHTSA data analysis" would usually be interpreted as a data analysis performed by NHTSA, not a third party's analysis of data from NHTSA.

What part of this are you having a hard time understanding:

White Piuus cars or Black Prius cars?
It won't be a reeeeealllly valid study unless you eliminate the possibility of an undetected thermal component to these UAEs.
    You know....
Black car hotter than white car.
    Black car driver drinks more...:D

In MY never-to-be-humbled opinion...you would have said that even if they recalled every single Prius for an exhaustive battery of tests.

    Face it man.
He was a reeeeeally good singer, and they even let him do a few movies...

    ...but Elvis really is dead.

    Sorry man!

Any one know how many accounts of SUA occured outside of the US?
