Suggestions needed regarding engine installation

I removed a complete engine/transaxle assembly from a junkyard Prius. I believe it is a good power train. The Prius I am using it for has a broken engine block but good power train otherwise. I am debating whether to swap entire power trains or to remove and replace the engine only.

On a related question, I was trying to separate the new engine. I have removed all eight bolts but the engine block does not want to be separated from the rest of the drive train. Any hints here are also appreciated.

 

I will give that a try. Also, I was considering replacing the bolts and then backing them out a half turn or so, then tapping on the bolt heads. I'm sure this would work but would also need to tap uniformly around the circle to gradually separate consistently. The seam is so tight it almost has disappeared, due to what I'm sure is normal oxidation or weathering.

 

my car is 135K and it has the complete original power train. donor car has 100K although so that's the max on that whole power train. i assume that's all original. donor car appeared to be broken into with hybrid battery stolen? donor is 2010 while existing is 2013.

 

i turned the donor motor thru 2 revolutions manually and the compression seemed good. but, that was not an actual compression test with a tool. that doesn't really help though since it doesn't say anything about the other power train components. my guess is that the power trains are both good except for the existing broken engine block. donor power train is about 30 percent newer by mileage but 2 years older.

 

can i pull the complete drivetrain from the top? i removed the donor drivetrain by dropping the subframe and removing the radiator, etc from the front end.
