Summary of proposed improvements for future versions of Prius

    By 2017, the cooled exhaust tap was put AFTER the catalytic converter cleaned up the gas. The 2010 tapped the exhaust before the catalytic converter which led to the subsequent problems.

    Presume you mean third gen: fourth gen EGR access is reportedly even worse, but it's also proven more-or-less immune to carbon build up. In other words, the fixed it...

    Still, with 3rd gen first Toyota would need to first acknowledge it's a "maintenance item". In the EGR Warranty Extension document I got (May 2017 SOSH-W11=1A), they say, Italicized and underlined thus:

    While the majority of vehicles will not experience this condition

    Someone in this thread mentioned plastics being used somehow in preventing head gasket failure.
    Or am I "mis-remembering"?
    I would like to know more...

    Maybe @rjparker, regarding plastic sleeves in the blocks coolant passages, with intention of keeping coolant temps more uniform.

    I think the YouTube channel "Project Farm" used JB Weld to repair a cracked cylinder head. But if you used it instead of a head gasket ...
