Summer fuel in Cali.

    It must be here because a slight rise in temps alone shouldn't cause my mpg to shoot up like this. I read that they were were thinking of making the switch in early March but I had not noticed any improvements in fuel economy until this latest tank.

    Anyone else notice this or have a definitive answer for when we made the switch? I'd like to start keeping track of the switch dates. :)

    I have not had any noticeable changes in mpg since I fueled up about a week ago. Definitely let u know if I see or notice any changes:) . I wonder if the brand of fuel matters as I've been using ARCO lately:eek: .

    I just filled up today & I did get an increase in mpg driving similar routes & speed so maybe you're onto something here;) .

    Yeah, me too, I use Shell, this is the first tank where I have broken the winter 43's and moving back up to the summer 48's I usually have! I just filled up, $4.09, that's just crap!
    I am really liking the Tesla idea!
    Maybe!!!

    U notice a difference between winter mpg/summer mpg in SoCal? I experience a steady FE throughout the year here. I'm gonna have to monitor my fill ups a lot closer now.

    Nevermind, checked my fuelly records, and my FE did dip during Nov-Dec. Interesting though that I get better FE in the spring months than in the summer. Maybe because of increased AC usage.

    Now that my tank is down to 3 pips, with 368 miles, I am running 47.8 mpg!
    Yay, summers back!!!

    AC sucks power like a stuck pig, I can drain a completely charged HV battery to 2 purple bars just waiting in line at IN & Out Burger! I never use AC, sucks too much gas!
    Yes driving when it's 50 vs 80+ in Los Angeles gives me 43 mpg in winter, 48/9 in Summer!

    I have an instant solution for you. Park the car and walk into the In-N-Out to get your double double :p That way you'll probably increase +5mpg AC or no AC.

    I have even a better solution, NO AC, stay in car, roll windows down!
    Eat burger, drive away happy! :)

    I don't think up here in the Pacific Northwest they even use summer fuel. Temps in summer is not that
    much of a difference than winter. I know that Oregon gasoline is treated with 10% Ethanol all year long.

    Last tank was a little over 47 mpg calculated with my wife driving who does not drive for mpg's.

    I'm noticing an increase in my mileage.....despite the howling winds we had during the week. Of course, the weather is going to be gorgeous from now until the weekend and that will help out greatly. This will be my first 60 mpg tank in a long time (and likely the first of many until December).

    Darn, I thought I was driving better. My MPG during the winter months was 43-45 MPG computer. Filled up on Monday. Now it's 49-50 MPG computer. Yippee! But it's also been warmer. Either case: Yippee!
