Super loud whine from engine bay for about 10 minutes, then went away...

    As a temporary measure, you might try removing the cabin blower motor, and applying a couple of drops of engine motor oil to the motor shaft at the bearing. Vacuum up any dust that is present. That might give you more service life without incurring the cost of a new motor.
