    Thanks for all the reply's! ( sorry, I forgot to list axle nuts...but I did get them...see ain't I smart? :D )

The axle nuts I got are part # 9008017238

The one question I have is it seems like everyone punches out the old 'locked' nut...but replaces it with a 'regular' ( non-locked ) nut..correct? I.e. - there is no need to 'lock' the new nut...right? o_O

Thx for the help guys! I'll need it. (y)

I punched the nut with a chisel;).

I didn’t want to risk the nut walking out on its own:whistle:.

I made sure it’ll stay right where I put it:).

The socket is a 30 mm and 12 point, so that’s the only non spec tool you’ll need (get one at the local auto parts store);).

I’m sure you have a punch or chisel lying around to keep that hub nut in line(y).

Ok but lots of the vids I've watched on the topic seem to omit 'locking' the axle nut...or maybe I fell asleep.

I know it was dimpled when I did the work, so I just “left it as I found it”;).

But the axle has the gap to do this, and the manual calls out to, so I followed the procedure :).

When does this work begin for you:whistle:?

Ok...I'm still a bit in the dark about how to do this nut locking though ( ok that didn't sound good ). Any instructional videos, etc...that you know of?

Parts are on order...so I'd like to start in the next couple weeks. I'm going to start with the drivers side first because of the lower control arm access issue on the passenger side.

No air tools but I do have this really nice electric impact wrench :

However, I prefer to do it by hand if I can. I also prefer not to use my riding mower..and prefer to shovel snow by hand even though we have a snow blower. Yes, the neighbors think I'm nuts but it is good exercise! (y)

Alright...this video has a nice view of how to lock the new axle nut :

Now I get it...you just dent the outer edge. Looks like nearly any punch can work to do that.

When you take the brakes and rotors off, you’ll see a slot cut into the axle ;).

Use a drill and appropriate sized bit to clear the old punched axle nut.

Upon reassembly, Once you have confirmed that the new hub bearing assembly is properly seated (peak your head around and ensure the tapered lip full engages the housing), tighten the axle nut to 160 foot pounds (that’s what’s in the manual, but my torque wrench only goes to 150 so I went til I got a click then out a bit more into the torque).

Once that is done, find the slot and take a chisel or punch and hammer a flat spot into the slot;).

    You got this(y).

    Yup, simple;).

I’m sure you have something lying around that will work:).

    Good video (y).

Speaking of torque wrenches...when I replaced the struts recently...I had a tough time torquing up the strut bolts that connect to the steering knuckle. My current wrench just wouldn't do an adequate job ( similar to Ray.... too short and it only goes to 150 ).

Since I'll have to do this again..and will need it for the axle nut, I ordered this baby :

    Hey it's 'fathers day'..so why not! :D

    That should work;).

But that is a premium price:cool:.

Maybe being close to the 49th parallel has some disadvantages :(.

But you’ll be able to get the torque spec (y).

You can never have enough torque wrenches. I'm hoping to get a 1/4" in inch/pound range, for upcoming bday. (y)

I have the 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 inch variety and it still seems like I’m missing something .

But 99% of what I need is met within these ranges so I’ll take it(y).

Looks like a very solid wrench, and comes with extension and reducer.

Just editorial: he's using it to break the nut loose?

Looks like I need to start looking for the torque specs. So just go to https://techinfo.toyota.com/ , create an account, and sign up for a given period of time? Looks like 2 days is $15. I'm assuming most people get the two day and print out/save all they can in that period of time. (y)

    Yup;).

When I got the $15 subscription, I got our 2010 Prius and the 2017 RX450h completed, then did some spot duty for some other side projects :).

But get it on a Friday and plan the weekend accordingly (y).

I see a one month subscription there is about $20, so a better deal than techinfo.toyota.com for a month, but a 2 day subscription there is $15:).

I’d go to the source, but that seems like an option(y).
