I apologize if this has been covered, a few days of searching hasn’t completely answered my query.

Firstly, I do know of the differing screen resolutions.
My query, are the touchscreens specifically programmed for certain things, or can they be compatible swapping to any configuration, as long as the resolution is correct?

I just acquired a 2007 base package, with backup camera, single disc radio, & no navigation.
I want to swap the higher res screen & camera into my loaded 2004 with navigation & 6 disc changer. Will the screen work as is or need to be reprogrammed for my option package?

I really want to put all my ‘04 guts into the ‘07 (lower miles & far nicer body), but research says that’s an immense undertaking....

In theory, if you took all the MFD and nav wiring from the 04, you could get it to work in the 07, BUT you would lose the backup camera (different video standard) and the bluetooth phone from the 07 (bluetooth circuit is in the newer MFDs).
I am currently running an 07 MFD in my non-nav 04 (had to swap some pins on the connector) and all "normal" functions work (hybrid/audio/climate), so those would be OK, but moving the nav wiring would likely be a nightmare.

What pins did you need to swap? On the MFD?

The ‘07 only has a camera, no Nav & no Bluetooth. I was looking at 2 options:

    1. Using the 07 MFD & camera in my 04 that does have nav & Bluetooth.
    2. Putting my 04 nav & Bluetooth wiring/parts into the 07, retaining the 07 MFD & camera.

I am interesting in changing MFD in order to connect a back-up camera. Can you help us with the way you swapped the pins? Thanks!

Sorry, just noticed this, my answer from: Will 86110-47230 work instead of 86110-47081 in 2005 Base Model?
"I made the change from 2004 base-->2006 w/camera. Here are the pin assignments from the wiring diagrams (Please use a meter to check your existing plug to be sure of the power wires.) You can find pin extractors on Amazon/eBay such as this: Car Wire Harness Terminal Extractor, but I still had one I couldn't get out and just spliced it.'

      1. To Re-pin, you need to raise the retainer on top of the plug (similar to this) [IMG]

And then release the individual pins
