I have washed my Prius many times and never took off the wheel trim rings. The reason for this is I thought I would break the plastic tabs when I took them off or when I put them back on.

Today I got brave and took of the rings, and quickly realized the tabs were not going to break.. To my surprise, Iwas shocked to see how dirty the wheels where. They were filthy.

I quickly hosed them down, dried them off and applied a coat of wax to the wheels. They now look great.

In the future I quess I will take off the trim rings more often when washing the car.

Yes, I've do this every now and then--it really gets dirty under there. Still, I'm not so trusting of them to do so regularly.

Cleaning the rings is a new part of our routine.

The wheels look better and are easier to clean without the trim rings, IMHO.

De gustibus non est disputandum. I think the wheels look unfinished without them.

Yepyep. I've left them off for now. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of taking them on and off every time (esp. since I wash the car often).

Much like an abandoned building looks unfinished before it has been demolished. :)

Take the trim rings off and hang them on the garage wall. I did that, and they stay really clean. Oh yeah, when you're done, just leave the rings on the garage wall. Trim rings? Just say NO!

I took mine off the day I got the car. I started reading on this site prior to getting one and realized a lot of people were saying the car looks better without them. When I actually saw the rims without the rings, I totally agree. I think it makes the car look sportier. plus it saves ya on cleaning the rings each time :D
