That's what The Google is for. At a minimum you'll need to file Form 8936 with your 1040. You may also have to calculate the AMT. Any of the free tax software should be able to handle it.

Federal Tax Credits for All-Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles lists the available credits. Go to http://www.irs.gov to get forms and instructions.

Since dealers don't know their own merchandise, do you really want tax advice from them?

Kern County? I am just up the road in Tulare County. I suggest you consult a tax professional. Call around and see what you can get for a half hour informal fee. Good luck.

Top prioity is for California, it is the CVRP rebate program:

For Federal, it is your next year this time 2017 FORM 1040 you have to include the proper form with your Form 1040 next year. In order to qualify, you need to actually have a tax liability of approx. $4500 to get the full rebate. For most of us that is not a problem but if you are worried about that some pre-planning could be in order to make sure you owe some tax.

I used to manage the incentives Sticky Thread under Gen1 Plug-in Prius, I would consider starting it again but now we cannot edit headline posts over time, so not sure how I'd do it.

    Old but may help-

What I used to do was keep Post#1 updated with all the info, but the website has changed and we no longer can edit prior posts.

From my experience, I appear to be able to edit prior posts. Somebody else had issues with Post 1 though. Perhaps it is "special". If that is the case, make the message in post 1 for users to look at post 2 :D
