I have a 2015 Prius modelTHREE. I have about 400 miles on it so far. I did a 160 mile round trip and average 53.5mpg with a fully loaded car 4 people and a trunk full of stuff. Yesterday while on a trip to the beach i averaged 57.3mpg. My prius so far is not disappointing in the mpg. The lowest i've seen for a short trip is 43mpg.

After two years of driving in good weather and bad, in town and in the highway, with the AC and without, I am still averaging 39.9 mpg. I asked about it yesterday when I was there for another far more serious problem, and his response was, "Huh........"

I didn't even bother to pursue it.

I've posted a response in the @marjorieflowers brake thread:

    Bad caliper | PriusChat

It sounds similar to an issue we had, brake warning lights and return-to-defaults brake behaviour.

IME, tire pressure makes a huge difference. When we bought our 2nd Prius (2015) new, for the first couple of tanks, I could not get 50 mpg, despite having a 2011 that could reliably get mpg in the 50s. Then it occurred to me to check the tire pressure, and they were around 32-34 psi. (I keep my 2011s at 40/38.) As soon as I brought them up to 40/38, I had no problem getting low 50s mpg. Then a couple of weeks ago, I took my 2015 in for the 20,000 maintenance. When I drove out, I noticed that my average mpg kept dropping. Some of it was because the weather was getting colder, but I couldn't get a drive above 50 mpg. Checked the tire pressure, and the dealer dropped pressure to 34/32. After pumping them back up to 40/38, all is good again.
