Love the idea, looking forward to seeing the unveiling.
However, we plan on having a full electric before the model S is available.
Currently the plan is one hybrid (for trips and such) and one EV. Unless we become a 3 car family I don't see it happening for us.
On the other hand, I applaud Tesla for moving forward with the sedan and am THRILLED that someone will be building a highway capable EV and selling it in some quantities.

Basically, Telsa is giving the early owners $10,000 plus whatever premium they can add by having head of the line priviliges....at least if the owners know how to play this card right. I can see where most would not pass up the option regardless of whether or not they want the car for themselves.

Good point. They could pretty easily turn these around for a profit not less than $10k/car.

Just trying to figure out how to convince my wife to let me put a $40k deposit down on March 26th....gotta feeling that's not gonna happen.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Tesla does here. If they can actually become a viable car manufacturer, at large scale production volumes, then they will drag ALL of the other auto mfgs along, kicking and screaming, into the electric age. While there's now way in hell I can possibly afford either of the cars that they are offering (assuming that this sedan comes off) I really to hope they are a rousing success because the US needs to lead the industry again.

Are any other green alternative auto makers getting gov bailout loans?

Instead of Congress giving the Not So Big Three, $40B or $50B more, why not give all the small alternative car companies a billion or so with a requirement that they need to use domestic vendors. Big shot in the arm for Detroit and Ohio and Indiana.

Good question. Why don't these small alternative car companies get a bailout?

Probably due to the fact these small alternative car companies don't spend a s***load on lobbyists
