    Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when Musk and Lutz were talking to each other in Revenge of the Electric Car. :D

    Interesting video review... "It's not like your grandfather's Lexus where you could move the steering wheel an inch and nothing happens." Ha! What about MY grandfather's mid 60's Ford Country Squire where we could move the steering wheel 2-3 inches and nothing (much) happened! :)

    Interesting review. I could get used to the touch screen thing, and no physical controls, but no radio? Yeah, I can stream from my phone, but regular radio is much more convenient, and more reliable some places. My 2017 Prius even has a CD player, not that I use it often.

    The model 3 has the hardware to do fm radio and will turn it on with a software update. I'm sure part of the reason the model 3 has only gone to tesla employees and very loyal customers is that there are still things to be done. The entertainment hardware changed in the late summer or early fall, and apparently the software is still being completed. The lack of AM seems like a weird choice, I don't know why they did that. The lack of cd makes sense. Most people don't use them anymore, and they add complexity and take up space. I'm surprised there isn't a option to add a cd changer in the frunk or trunk. Still when the software is right, which I'm sure it will be by the end of december when the first non restricted model 3s get delivered.

    There are some physical controls on the steering wheel, but not on the screen. I would think they could add more to the wheel in the future if needed.

    To me, the lack of AM radio would be a problem, because local AM stations are a good source of local information on entertainment, "swap shop," etc. I wouldn't care about a CD player. I have all of my CD's on an iPod, and USB drives. Maybe Tesla will re-think the AM radio decision.

    What does it use for navigation? Does it expect you to use your smartphone?

    Built-in cell service.
    It also has streaming radio. Not sure if AM stations are on TuneIn or not. I use it a lot, but never tried looking up any AM stations.

    @pilotgrrl Tesla is in the process of a seamless transition off of Google Maps;

    Tesla is updating its maps and navigation with open source mapping platforms | Electrek

    @Zythryn - most of the major a.m. radio signal carriers also stream their signal through the web, so yes, you can add those stations to your favorites, just like various music genres, blogs, & FM stations. iirc, you simply program them through TuneIn. The nice thing about this feature is you may want to listen to your local state's AM radio in Idaho or wherever - while you're driving around in some god-forsaken place like Barstow.

    Aren't there any AM stations in your area that have truly local programming, not duplicated elsewhere? Yeah, you can get most of them by streaming, but the radio is easier.

    You know you're getting up in years, when your car's 78 player is no longer in vogue.

    Those were 16 2/3 rpm, in some 1956 Chrysler products. Cool photo. Thanks.

    Shawn Hannity started his professional radio career in Huntsville, AL. His leaving did not improve it.
