    It is free, the sides of the Charger are used as a buildboard and generates income from advertising. This one had Nissan ads.

    Yes 500E. There was a Prime on the other charger. Lots of Fiats 500E in California.

    Neat, so it tries to sell cars to people who already have them? People who went way out of their way to get a very specific car that caused them to need charger access?

    I'm not sure they thought this one all the way through.

    Is Tesla a true luxury car? Not in my book. A LS500, S class, A8 or 7 series, these are true lux cars.

    The magazine is going to reach a bit further. It looks like this charger has a small display screen on it, so only the person operating the charger will see the ad well enough to make an impression. And obviously that person already has a car. And that car is something pretty unusual if it requires a charger. And chances are it isn't very old; there aren't too many classics with that J1772 connector.

    So I'll grant you that it's not an impossible marketing challenge but it does look uphill both ways.

    I'll readily admit that I'm not qualified to judge who gets into the true luxury car club, but the pricetags alone make the Teslas (all models) a closer neighbor to those than any mass-market car.

    I’d say that Teslas are a luxury cars in a somewhat different sense: not so much in terms of having cushy seats and lots of amenities, but more in the sense of being super-techno-gizmoholic. That, plus they are expensive! :)

    No small display screen, it's the whole side of the tower. I am sure it will be other products being advertised besides automotive.

    I sorta agree and sorta disagree: The main thing you get is a long-range EV that can tap into their extensive supercharger network. That, plus it’s a high-performance car in general, with good ADAS.
