Using this specific criteria for incentives, I rank them in the following manner:
    1. benefits to society
    2. benefits of car
    3. governmental subsidies
This describes me exactly except I don't keep up with traffic if the flow of traffic is greater than the posted speed limit.

Thank you, that makes sense. I am very similar myself.
Since the Tesla was the only EV with the range I needed, I put my money where my mouth was and bought one.
The performance just came as frosting on the cake. But if performance gets more people into EVs I am happy to discuss the performance.

I like that Tesla now added a chill mode. I actually use it on my Model 3. I found it increases the efficiency even more :)

I don't see it on fueleconomy.gov yet, but the configurator I've seen on YouTube shows the same estimated EPA range of 310 mi. for Long Range, Long Range All-Wheel Drive, and Performance.

I was expecting the dual motor version to have slightly better efficiency, and the Performance version slightly worse. Do you guys think Tesla is going to simply use the same rating for all three, or do you think the EPA tests haven't been finalized yet, and will be updated later?

Chill mode sounds like it would be very useful for me, because I always try to drive very smoothly, so that my wife can sleep. Can you tell me a little about how it feels to drive in chill mode? Does chill mode also work together with autopilot?

Hey in my neighborhood, if you don't want to get run over, har, har! Just kidding, Mr. Bisco; but the animals out here average 75-85 mph on the (traffic permitting!) freeways, with (and I've seen this) bursts to 100mph, and occasionally screaming past me (10 Fwy, Eastbound on very early Saturday morning) at well over 120 mph! A guy could get killed out heah!! Me, I chug along at 53-62 mph in the slow lane, with my, "TEST VEHICLE, <GO AROUND> sign, and they leave me alone. I do occasionally get super tail-gated (3 feet or closer on my bumper!), but so far they've all been texters, who after about 5-10 miles on my butt will go around holding their cell phones diligently in their laps while typing.
It's definitely a PARTY out here!!

As for the epa.gov ratings, it may be that the EPA rating hasn’t been completed, isn’t needed, or is so close to the others, it doesn’t matter.
My understanding is, the Model 3’s final numbers were 343 miles of range. Tesla downgraded to 310 miles.
It is possible that the Performance Model gets less than 343 miles, but still at least 310 miles.

I really don’t know the details of how the ratings work, so this is all guesswork.

Chill mode simply reduces the available acceleration. It works with Autopilot, although I’ve never experienced autopilot using much acceleration, so I don’t know that Chill mode makes any difference.
Chill mode seems to provide a smoother, more efficient drive. I haven’t done any actual measurements yet.

About 0-60 in 10 minutes, har, har!!
The Prime Punch is pretty impressive however, particularly for hole shots at "Forced Stop" freeway onramps, or taking off from a stop at a signal. There's nothing I can't keep up with or pass from stop, besides, they never know I'm racing because I'm in Stealth Mode!! No Exhibition of Speed tickets here; the cops can't hear you!!

Hey now, don't underate those cows; they run on methane!!

Are you talking about biogas production? No, cows do not run on methane, but their byproduct can be used for the production. However, using food waste is supposed to be better way. The Right Solution at the Right Time - Agri-Cycle Energy

It appears your math is incorrect, the cost goes up to ~$43.5K here in California, including tax. But the total cost of a vehicle including sales (use) tax, whether ICE or alternative power, is usually not stated since that cost is so variable from State to State and county to county.
