I went to the dealership and test drove a Prius 2016 trim 3.

The seat is more comfortable than my 2014 trim 2, even the 2016 is not the softex seats. Went out for a ride. The electric motor seems more powerful than my 2014. The gas engine is quiet! I cannot hear the engine at all until the PWR bar is full. The car gives me a floaty feeling. The handling is smoother than my 2014, which i liked.

Was hoping to trade in my 2014 with 42k miles. Very good conditions with one minor scratches. The dealer gave me $8500 trade in value, which was nuts. Still thinking about whether i should go for it. Kelly blue book gave me 12k to 13k estimated value in my car. I would expect to get 10k - 11k trade in value.

I think a low mileage 2 year old Prius sells well. My dealer wanted my 10 year old Gen 2. I said, really, it has 200K. I went to my grand son. Your problem is your selling the 2014 to soon, you lose a lot. If you have time why not sell it yourself. I suspect when you shop they will bring up what there giving you for the 2014 by increasing what your paying for the 2016. You have to look at the bottom line when all is done.

I sold my 2008 in January with 125,000 miles for $6,500.00. Keep looking.

I used to be car salesman. They are naturally going to hold on the trade so that they can enhance their level of gross and commission off of the total deal. Like others have mentioned, you're going to have to shop around... It's just the name of the game, unfortunately. I think you should be able to get your $10 - 11k if you shop it right and hang tight... Don't forget to focus on the bottom-line trade difference. Good luck.

I again talked with the dealership. They offer to take my car for 10 K. And i was hoping to get the Two Eco.

Finally talked down to $1500 down payment plus $12000 0% APR financing. Everything included, like delivery fees, tax and processing fees.

    Is it a good price?

i don't think they deal like other parts of the country. what is the msrp?

whenever i buy a car, i email 4 or 5 dealers for quotes. inevitably, the low price is not the dealer i purchased the last car from. it all depends on stock, how things are moving and etc.

so 1500 down and 12,000 is 13,500 plus 10,000 for your car is 23,500. so $2,300. off msrp doesn't seem to bad.

Yes. Tax and processing fees is around 1500

In fact 22000 is the average price on TrueCar, compared to the MSRP.

It sounds like a fair deal. But it's up to you if it's a good deal.

    Roger T,

Overall, it sounds like a good price.
You could do a little better if you want to handle the
trade in separately, and try to sell it yourself.

I had to pay full MSRP, as there is only one dealer here.

As it is now September, the dealer may not be willing to
cut any more now, vs if it was the end of the month, and want
    to meet sales quotas.

Also, the 2017 model will be arriving, and your choices
for in stock 2016 will be limited.

    Best of luck!
