I had to give the RAV4-EV back today. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the car for the past week. If I hadn't bought the PiP nearly a year ago, I would've easily bought this car. Way better NAV system. Bluetooth audio seemed better, too (ability to browse artists, playlists, etc via Bluetooth). The ability to drive all electric. Great acceleration.

I did find that the range was a bit shorter than I would be comfortable with, however. My commute is 92 miles round trip. On a regular charge, the estimated range was around 80 to 88 miles. So I would have to charge at work to get home reliably. Unfortunately, charging at work is not very reliable right now. I was able to do some extended charges which got me to/from work without needing to charge in between, but doing that all the time wouldn't be good for the battery in the longterm.

FYI, as far as the telematics are concerned, the Advanced PiP is equivalent to the RAV4. Costs about the same too…lol.

Wow- 80 to 88 for the regular range? Do you have a lot of hills. I think the area I live has some steep hills. I have been getting about 97 to 105 on the regular range. but even that would be too close for comfort for your commute. But on the extended range, I have averaged between 115 and 127, and sometimes up to 136 when I drive a lot of flat land driving.

Last weekend I drove 75 miles to get to a birthday party, and fortunately the birthday party location had 2 free charge point charging stations, so I was able to get a nearly full charge before heading home for the night. I put the charge in extended mode, and had 50 miles leftover when I got home.

Glad to hear that you're happy with the RAV4! Am I correct in assuming that you still get the CA $2500. rebate and the up to $7500. Fed. tax credit for the RAV4 in addition to the rebate and tax credit you got for the PiP that you traded in?

the $2500 is a Fed tax credit (for the PiP anyway).. the CA rebate was $1500 and the terms said you're supposed to give it back if you dont keep the car for 3 years

Yes, have to return 1125 to the CARB, prorated from the 1500- they offered to let me pay back in installments, but the contact name I was given has not returned my call nor has she returned my email. I will try calling again next week. And I did get the 2500 federal for the pip, because I still owned the pip on January 1st. Will get the 7500 for the RAV4 EV next year's tax. And waiting for the 2500 CARB for the RAV4 EV.

Yes, still loving the RAV4 EV :)

TFC did a video review of the RAV4 EV and I was surprised how much fun it looked to drive... and how much power it had. California has it going on with this car... I'd love one!

Just wasn't found of the instrumental panel cluster crammed behind the steering wheel....but then again, nothing is like a Prius...:)

( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 all electric Toyota RAV4 EV may look like the 3rd generation RAV4 but don't be fooled...the all electric SUV/Crossover is all new.

Good video so it is a Tesla at a bargain price. Excellent review.

A 2013 Volt, driven conservatively, can easily be a 45/43 (EV/HV) car today. I routinely get 45+ miles of EV range on my 2 year old 2011 Volt and the 2013 has slightly improved battery and electronics that would give it an extra 3-5 miles of range.

They also did a humorous review of the Prius c's "first drive"... Roman was being the funny guy and Nathan had to "correct" him on a few facts....

Their "mashup" videos of pitting cars against each other are fun to watch.
