The cheapest non-DIY way to prevent Catalytic Converter theft?

Yes, the two cats are covered. That big bulge beyond the shield is an empty resonator.

 

That makes a lot of sense. It's also one reason the thefts have caused so much pain: many of the victims don't have comprehensive because their cars are older and paid for. The theft is happening worldwide. One buying country is apparently China, who has been tightening up emissions rules (a good thing for health and environment of course).

Gen 1 is also a target. Should I find a source about Gen 4 theft, I'll share on this forum.
