...with all seats up. 24.6 cubic ft for the Prius, 18.1 for the Lexus. The 2015 RX has 40 cubic feet.o_O

I was parked next to one at the beach today and while I do like the look of the RX, it's basically a lifted wagon with the trunk space of a sedan. And it's not a tiny car. Am I reading the stats correctly?

It makes sense. Lexus changed the RX to a new platform and went crazy with the styling, similar to Toyota and the C-HR.
However. The new RX is also super generous with rear leg room for the second row of passengers, so the space when the second row is folded down is great.

Lexus has filed trademark for a long wheelbase version, so expect to see an even longer version revealed later this year. The chief of design for the RX said he would like to maintain the lines of the car for the long wheelbase version. We will see if he will succeed.

BTW. My iQ has 28 liters of trunk space. We will be looking into the RX450hL with great interest: The interior is beautiful!

The previous gen has an enormous trunk - but one could argue that 40+ cubic feet is a waste for a 2 row crossover. The new is beautiful and 22 is adequate for most people and you can easily fold a seat down if needed.
