We love our new Prius Prime, and the interior is beautiful, except for the jarring and utterly out of place white plastic pieces that deface the steering wheel and forward center console (the wireless phone charging area). Nobody will ever convince me this works, it's kind of one of the most profound auto design disconnects I've ever witnessed, we bought the car anyway. I'm sure it has cost them some sales along with the Prime's semi-fail exterior styling. Very subjective, but I had to put all those aside to buy the car, glad I did.

Are there any third party aftermarket parts/cosmetic solutions to this interior disaster? Any links appreciated.

I have no doubt that one may emerge. Failing that I think those pieces come off and go to my body shop, he'll remedy this.

    Man, that's friggin brutal. B R U T A L.

BUT we do LOVE the car.

I feel your pain; it's like your best friend likes Trump, and you hate him (Trump, that is!). The best friend is still your best friend, but it is painful. What you do is enjoy all the good, and brush away the bad! And who knows, eventually you can replace the unwanted aspects of these "relationships"!

The pain isn't THAT bad. Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it, I'll check it out.

Almost worth the near certainty than when the http://www.corvetteforum.com intelligence boys find out I'm registered over here they'll bring me in for questioning and I'll face a possible lifetime ban. That's ok, those sports car forums are just a giant dick measuring contest anyway. [IMG]

Check out some of the Gen 4 mod forums. Some have done the steering wheel too, in different colors. My Trim Two has a matte black console. I think the appliqués leaving the white cup holders are just less ugly.
    Here is one.

I totally agree. The black appliqué for the console was the only accessory I splurged for. I don’t trust my handicraft skills to try to cover the steering wheel but I’d love to find an option to cover that as well.

    Maybe matte black plasti-dip?

Just editorial, and not sure if you can still edit the thread title: maybe "plumbing-white" sounds better than "white plumbing"?

I believe there are some JDM aftermarket for the steering wheel. We can only use the center piece though because their switch arrangement is different.

Oh you are so too cool!! In my lucky (with garage and extra money) days I did what you're doing with split-personality: I had an Acura Integra Type R rocket, and a Civic VX super economy car (once got 50mpg), both rare and at completely opposite ends of automobile spectrum. They made life very interesting as neither were dull, and both were exceptionally reliable. The contrast in their behavior was great. I feel cheap today, don't want to use any gas, or I need to pickup a Christmas tree, use the VX. I'm taking a quick trip to friend's house, or taking a sweet young thing out on a weekend night (although ladies tended to like a little quieter car), it was the Type R. The best of both worlds!!

If you can get the parts off, plasti-dip can do very seamless job. Here's how it worked on a knackered Civic shifter bezel:

Which one did you get- I saw one from china on e-bay but that was the only option and it involves the use of a glue gun which scares me lol. Please let me know if this is the one that you got and how it works out?

Somebody in the Gen 4 forum got one that used double sided tape.

I’ll let you know when it arrives. 3M makes a super strong double sided tape that I thought I might try even if intended to be mounted with glue. I’ll see how it fits first.

Maybe I am just different. I have the Blizzard Pearl with the black interior and think that some white accents in the otherwise black interior look good. My only regret is that I didn't buy the moonstone interior.

Agreed. This (and the white dash, too) caused me to refuse a car with the moonstone interior which I'd gone in to buy. Luckily, the dealer had a black-interior car which had just arrived, with the same options/MSRP and an acceptable color to me. I'm still not happy about the shiny-black parts, nor the couple of white parts, but it's both livable and fixable.

I found little stainless steel cups that work well as liners for the cupholders, to help draw some attention away from the shiny black and shiny white stuff. It negates the nice size-adjusting feature of the cupholders, but seeing as the stainless cups fit water bottles well, and that's all I drink in the car, it works for me.

I wish I'd found 1000 of the stainless cups, but there were only 3 available. Otherwise, I could get rich off all of you! Maybe I'll find a reliable wholesale source of the exact size (which works so well that it is classified, hahaha) and put them on ebay.
