    Agreed. Looks like a tornado generator for movies involving tornadoes with close-up shots.

    By rights, this slot should go to Evan or Tony, but after more than 8 hours I'm going to throw one up just to keep things going....

    Hint: It has almost nothing to do with petrochemicals.

    I'm going with Patriot Missile all-weather air defense system.

    I'm going to assume that I'm correct (and since I missed my turn previously) and go with this:
    And you have to be specific.

    It's a fly's foot. I wasn't able to find an exact match, but you can compare to this electron microscope image of a blowfly's foot:
    [attachmentid=10607]

    Now I need something clever.... mutter mumble.... hmm....
    Before:
    [attachmentid=10609]

    After:
    [attachmentid=10608]

    Be at least somewhat specific!

    The before picture is one of these being washed, a parabolic solar trough, for generating electricity, by heating oil pumped through the pipe at the parabolic focus.

    [attachmentid=10613]

    This is exactly the sort of thing (sorry) only a Googlemaps image can do justice to! Below is a SMALL portion of a large array of troughs near San Bernardino CA

    [attachmentid=10615]

    I haven't got any mystery pictures to put up - someone else go ahead ----

    Since my shower gag was *somewhat* specific, I present:

    Bonus points if you can indicate what this is the "first" of.

    OK thanks APK. . .

    Here is a bit of a mystery to me . . . I have had these hanging around for a couple of years trying to figure out what they go to and for some reason it really bothers me I can't figure it out. What the heck are these things?!? :blink:

    For the record, you were way right. :)

    Oddly enough, though, when I saw it for the first time, I hadn't a clue what it was. I mean, *I* don't think it looks like a missile launcher ought to look. But what did I know?

    Then I wound up spending 7 months in a PATRIOT unit. lol...
