tbh I like it. I would have to have it in black or dark grey though.

Ya, I was thinking it looked like a Transformer also but couldn't think of a specific one. It looks like it's got armor.

I like it. For a Civic R, it is perfect. Looks like a Subaru WRX a bit, which is probably exactly what they were going for.

Ugh! I wonder if these styling excesses (all of 'em) are symptomatic of a nearing-the-crash economy? Need some austerity styling...

Might be OK with a paint job - undercoat/primer just doesn't help it. No, even with paint, I can't see it.

It seems like a test mule, all the excessive bolt-ons, to disguise the true shape.

I wonder if any of the air intakes/exhausts are functional, needed. No...

Well it's supposed to be a production prototype and Honda is known to produce final production cars similar in look to the prototypes..

It's supposed to be state side by the end of next year and I think it looks pretty sweet! Like a STI on steroids!

But, yeah I'm wondering what Honda has up thier sleeves to attempt to get power to the ground (305 hp) and not just spin! I've owned two new Gen Mazdaspeed3's with 263HP and the tq steer and tire spin was silly, 1st gear was almost unusable and was tough to get a good launch from the Dig..

That car having 305 HP which will
Mean it will be able to attain speeds in excess of 150mph combined With how light it will probably be, yeah the spoiler is for downforce to help keep the car planted...

I drove a 2007 Lexus ES 350 for three days that has 272 HP and it doesn't have a spoiler. I was leaving people in the dust accelerating up to 45 MPH in 4 secs. Having a rear spoiler on a front wheel drive car meaning slowing down the car while it uses more fuel putting force on the rear wheels when nothing back there is driving the car just rolling. Rear spoilers are designed for rear wheel drive and sometimes awd. The Toyota Celica is the same way, riced out with a rear spoiler that essentially suites no purpose for a fwd as it's just a cosmetic look.

Gotcha. You seem to know what's up!

You drove a full size sedan with "normal HP To weight ratio for the class"... The Lexus.. And I too have driven many full sized high hp sedans without spoilers. Lol.

Were both my FWD Mazdaspeed 3's ricers with the spoilers?

The new Civic R has the same HP as the current STI (which I came extremely close to buying instead of the Prius) and is capable of very high speeds, especially with the Civic R weighing much less...downforce is the reason for the spoiler! Why would the fact that it's RWD or FWD matter at 150-160+ mph... Obviously the spoiler is useless at city speed, even at normal highway cruising... But topped out it had a purpose, which is downforce!

Should I add, a v-6 Camry has high 200 hp and some have a spoiler lip...lol. The older models had regular spoilers...and a Camry is not high performance at all. Just the normal HP per a vehicle in its class...

That Honda is meant for young guys, to street race in, (and pay $500 a month in gas & insurance! :ROFLMAO:)
So of course it's going to look like that. Young kids love it; and grumpy old men think it's ridiculous.
    Not surprising.

    Back to my pancakes.

(And I still think I bought a chick's car! I NEVER see a man in a Prius. Only young little Asian women and college girls. But that's fine... I'd much rather see the young pretty chicks than you grumpy old dudes!)

    Hmmmmm.

My views on the G4 are on record.

IF the goofy looking spoiler is removable.... I'll take the Honda over the Yota.....

    YMMV

I think both look cool but I'll keep my G4 for the mpg. If that Civic was a hybrid and had comparable stats to the G4 I might feel bad.
