thinking of trading 2010 Prius iv for 2017 advanced prime

    Looking for opinions on trading 2010 Prius iv with 150000 .....
    for the prime advanced 2017...... I have signed the paper work but am
    apprehensive. Looking for opinions ....

    How much are they offering for your trade-in. Since you are in MA, you still have $3250 rebate effective. I am sure they are very eager to move out 2017 PRIME now, so I think you can negotiate quite bit discount on top of the rebate. Question is, will you be able to live with 4 seater, and smallish cargo. Otherwise, I don't see reason not to.

    Can you clarify "signed the paperwork"? You've bought a car, or just reserved one?

    There's an interesting video posted here this morning, regarding the new battery make up. Might cheer you up. The lith ion in regular Prius has 2 banks, the Prime has 5. Lightweight compared to 3rd gen, and more easily replaceable.

    thank you for your response - they are actually giving me 6500 off which I think is great .... - I have resolved myself to the 4 seats and smaller cargo . I wonder though how much longer I could have driven my car :)

    I know there are people on this forum who has over 200K or even 300K on Prius. I am sure you 2010 will keep running for a while, but at 150K 8 years on NE roads, my experience has been that body of the car will go due to rusting before anything else. I think 6500 is a great price. I only got $10K on my trade in for less than 3 years old Gen3 Two with 30K miles when I traded in for my current PRIME.

    Just to make sure, is the 6500 off 2017 sticker price on top of $3250 rebate, which in effect make it $9750 off sticker price. If $6500 off already include the rebate amount, then you are getting only $3250 off by trading in your car, which is still OK price for 2010 150K Prius if in poor condition, but you may do better if you sell it yourself. If your car is in excellent condition, KBB says trade-in should be $4,576 - $6,487 without counting rebate. Also, don't forget, if you have enough tax liability, you will qualify for additional $4500 tax credit for sure this year. Although the tax credit for 2018 purchase is still not secured by legislation, so I hear.

    Seems to me your timing is near perfect, the '10 is getting where repairs are looming on the horizon and at 150k you are wise to move on to a new one.
