    Because this is a Porsche and you can have it now (and not deal with Tesla's BS like I have). Can't comment on the i8 since I've never tracked one, but there's a reason the 911 is something of a heavyweight in the sportscar world.

    in comparison - the i8 is a tad poaky, compared to the performance model 3 - which will save you thousands to boot.

    There's also a bit of focusing on the paper specs when the intangibles have real impact. Also, I'm not sure if the Model 3 performance or roadster will have the overheating issue that forces limp mode (after like IIRC ~9 minutes of track driving) that the Model S has.
