Anyone know the correct method in removing the fog light blanking plates on the front bumper?
Thinking about color coding them to the body color on my wife's "base" looking Prius 4 . thanks.

I don't own a Gen 4, but if it's like other cars you'll have to remove the bumper cover and there should be some tabs holding the inserts on which you can depress and pop them off.

Thanks was hoping that they were just clipped in and be able to remove it with a credit card or something. Oh well.. Perhaps access might be gained when removing under tray. Wish we had access to a workshop manual.

Wondered what those were for. Do other models use hose holes for something?

You need to take off the inner wheel well to have access to them from the back (unless you want to take off the whole front bumper). Those cover are held in place by a few screws.
Should wait a bit for the aftermarket to come out...or just get OEM replacement (better quality).

Was hoping they were just clipped into place.
Would like to at least get then painted same color as the bumper. Some sanding, priming and paint then clear coat. Duplicolor. Looks so "lame" with black blanking plates like that. In my opinion obviously. Lol.

I have the fog lights but they do not use those holes.

That's a great idea though. I hate those black hole fillers.

I wonder what they are for?

Another pedestrian safety device? Perhaps without them the front end of the car would be so pretty that pedestrians would be awestruck and unable to move out of the way. So Toyota dialed the pretty back a notch by adding those ugly plates. There, I've figured it out!

    I'm pretty sure this:

    upload_2016-5-1_7-31-30.png

It might be possible to pop them out from the front, using a knife blade. Push on one side, see if that opens up the gap on the opposite edge. That's how I've popped out the tow hook covers on our 2010.

And if that proves difficult, look underneath, see how the underbody and fender liner is secured. Likely with a few fasteners removed you'd be able to reach in and release clips from behind.

Here's what I did on mine while installing angel eyes, remove 2 bolts from i piece only undercover panel right underneath fog lights.
Fog light covers was only held by 2 philips screws (top and bottom) a slot clip, there's plenty of room, unfortunately my Eco wasn't pre-wired for fog lights.

Right oh, so they are held in with two screws, thanks.

I'm assuming to check for pre wired would be seeing if there is a harness plug tied back their ?

Did you do you write up on the angel eye install? I'd like to get the boomerang DRL similar to some fat Eastern Prius gen 4 models. Also change the front DRL turn signals to switchbacks LEDs.

Over to the right 8" where the covers are located. But do have a question about those holes now.

Vince those circles look great, especially with your metallic grey color. They really set it off.

On further inspection of the headlights. It appears that the boomerang area above the projector headlights look like a hollow tubing to accommodate light. Toyota probably used different headlights for the far Eastern models that have the white light emitting in those boomerang area of the headlights. Doubt I'll know until headlights removed. At my age I know longer have the patience ( lazy ) anymore. Lol.

Right, I had a look underneath the vehicle. Which two screws did you undo to access the back bolts of the fog light covers.
There is one main cover in the middle area of the front bumper and also one cover on each corner of the front bumper.

    Which one ? Thanks.
