    Hi everyone,

My name is Patrick and will soon be a proud owner of a:

2012 Prius v Five (without ATP) in Clear Sky Metallic

Additional extras according to the window sticker printout:

    - allow wheel locks
    - all-weather floor mats
    - mud guards
    - rear bumper appliqué

This car is used, with just under 11k miles on it. Purchased in Atlanta, I'll be driving this baby home this weekend, all the way to Montreal, QC, Canada.

Extras I've purchased and that I've had shipped to the used car dealer are:

    - Webelectric DRL turn signal module (in order to comply with federal inspection after import)
    - Weathertech mats (front, rear and cargo)
    - Michelin X-Ice xi3 205/60R16 winter tires

I've been perusing the "Accessories" forum and I'm definitely thinking of getting:

    - interior lights SMS LED mod
    - shark fin antenna
    - nav bypass (if it's as useful as the bypass on my current Pioneer Avic-Z1, then I'll definitely need it)

Thanks for welcoming me into the community.

    :)

    Difference between the 2012 & 2013?

I've looked over both brochures and the only difference I found was in the 2013, regarding the steering wheel. It states that it is Softex trimmed. Is this not the case in the 2012?

Welcome Patrick! No my v5 doesn't have anything on the hard plastic wheel nor does the spouses' v3. I'd love to wrap it at some point it just isn't a priority right now.
    Cheers!

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride! What kind of taxes are you going to have to pay to get it across the border?

Hello and welcome. Hope you're enjoying your "v" as much as I enjoy mine.
It's a great car, great mileage, and the v in versatility is an understatement

Yes, easy to change between MPH and km/h for the speedometer, using the button on the dash. The GPS also displays metric units if desired.

However, it's a different story for the odometer. I yet have to find a way for it to display trip mileage and total mileage in kilometres.

If anybody knows how, please let me know.

    - RIV fee: $195 + tax

    At the border:

    - 5% GST
    - 6.1% duty (for cars not assembled in North Anerica)
    - $100 air conditioning

Provincial car inspection: approx $75 + tax

    Provincial licensing office:

    - 9.975% provincial sales tax

In the long run, still saving a hefty amount vs buying in Canada.

Congrats on your new v. BTW, can you post a picture of your DRL in action?

Finally did it! All by myself, in about 3 hours. I took my time.

Here's a YouTube link to it:

Of course, the light switch was set to OFF, as required by the Canadian Federal inspection. When turning the lights on, the DRLs turn off.
