    The people who make a whole bunch of money (the top 5% or so) already do this (not the stop making money part). A friend of ours just opened her own law firm. One of the services they provide is, "domestic and international tax and asset protection planning." What do you think that means?

    The people who are really that wealthy have been sheltering their money for a long time. It's nothing new.

    Also, there are some, like Steve Jobs, who has an official salary of $1. That's what his W2 would say. What sort of tax does he pay on that? The great majority of money he "makes" is from other means, which are often taxed much, much less than the tax bracket he'd actually be in if it was income from a job...

    I think a flat tax is the best option. Each person pays their fair share. No one gets a free ride, and no one is excessively taxed.

    ...and don't get me started on the stupid AMT!
