My 2004 will be three years old in four days. I filled up today, so my actual three year mileage will be a little more. Here are the stats.

    Total miles driven – 33,810
    Lifetime display mpg – 53.77733333
    Lifetime calculated mpg – 52.62233333
Average gallon per fill up – 7.14
Average miles per tank – 375
Average price per gallon – $2.50

The only real problem I have had with the car was the multi display going bad, but this was not a Prius problem only. The same displays in other Toyota models also went bad.

The most annoying feature is my inability to get more gas in the car. As you can see, I have not averaged 400 miles per tank. I usually get gas at one or two bars.

I am very happy with the car in every other way. I never expected to love a car. My wife still thinks I am a bit obsessed, but she has gotten used to it.

Only two years to go until it is paid for. That will be nice. :)

    Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the update. I'm running some quick numbers here.

    Averaging 53.7MPG:
You have consumed 629.6 gallons of gas.
It has cost you $1,574 at $2.50/gal.

If you were driving a conventional car and averaging 25MPG:
You would have consumed 1,352 gallons of gas.
It would have cost you $3,381 at $2.50/gal.
