ticking (sound like pop rocks candy but slower) coming from the back of prius

    ok i've been hearing this ticking noise coming from the back of my prius when driving. i can only hear it when my windows is down and i'm passing by an object that reflects the sound so i can hear it., like if i was driving by a car, building, median with barriers etc... it sound like pop rocks candy literally but much slower. can anyone tell me what it is

    no idea what pop rocks candy is, :p but could it be a stone lodged in the tyre tread?

    I think it's your engine making the noise, the reflection of the sounds make it hard to identify where it's coming from.

    not the engine i can tell its coming from the back even when im on battery mode. i just got the tire and brakes done and its still there

    ticks can be hard to find, cause you can't look while you're moving. one thing to try is jack up the rear wheels and spin them.
