i suppose the 'heaviness' could be the tyres. you aired them up to 40?

Yes, the heaviness was prior to going to 40lbs of nitrogen.. hopefully they can tell me by tomorrow what is wrong with the vehicle.. dealer is hoping its the battery.. do they can sell me a new one.. they are really not knowledgeable service departments t, battery is warrantied by 10 years and 150k..

Okay guys picked up the car today, considering still under warranty, nothing found no codes of any kind.. I'm pumped the air up to 40lbs of nitrogen.. so far so good, It has to be the shitty Costco gas, even though premium was filled up.. with the 40lb's of tire pressure, you can feel the added weight upon acceleration.. plus I'm sure the cold winter factor has a mild milage effect.. I'm running regular from another gas station and so far so good, intial pickup maybe related to the tires still being brand new under 500 miles.. hopefully it wear a little and warmer climates should hopefully get my milage boost back.. now to seek out a prius 17's user who wants to get rid of his A20's dirt cheap.. I'll looking into getting my own odb reader so I can scan any issue .. I'll keep you guys posted.. also That's how I drive.. ev and regular mode, i don't push the pedal to the floor.. medium pick up and the car take care form there...

you can increase your mpg's by accelerating briskly with the ice, you don't have to stomp on it. then back off and glide. (no power, no regen) rinse and repeat. i also do medium pick up.

I'm doing that now.. I've filled up a partial tank, hopefully I can burn up the coscto fuel up.by end of the week..

the Stealership recommended a 45 throttle body and fuel injection service for a whopping 385 bucks plus tax. I had to pass.. I can get this service done by a 4 or 5 step procedure for under 100 dollars by a local business.. throttle body service and fuel injectors as 43k low milage.. they say.. it's regular gas.. I'm like the manufacturer made it so it runs on regular.. last time I take it to this dealer...

Wait a sec: are you thinking there's 40 lbs added to your tires?? The "pounds" are just pressure, aired up tires weigh maybe an ounce more, if that.

I understand it's the pressure, but with 40 lbs, there is less resistance between the full amount of tread vs minimal tread contact..

    Ok sorry, lol.

I think nowadays, a few pounds difference doesn't do much to a tire's profile, ie: it doesn't deform, bulge out more towards the centre. The main think it does is reduce tire "squirm", the tendency to deform/compress at the point of contact.

It's still puzzling that those new tires have dropped pressure that much, and I doubt a few more pounds will make much difference. You're not alone in reporting mpg drop with new Premiers. Maybe the effect is exacerbated by winter temperatures coming, something that also drops mpg??

I get my tires rotated at Costco and they always lower them back to factory specs:(. I have been leaving them at 35 and 33 while still getting between 51 and 53 mpg on the dash.

This is on a set of Bridgestone turanza serenity's with 20k miles currently. They come with an 80k miles warranty and were on sale for a good price.

Sounds like you are in the new tire break in period. I hope the trip to the dealer for a scan didn't cost anything. Find yourself a nice code reader and you'll be in good shape(y).

yep, par for the course. your lucky it was only the fuse cover, and not the oil drain plug.:p
the only time i go to the dealer is for warranty or something a good hybrid mechanic says that she can't handle.

Milage after being stuck in 20161101_085629.jpeg interstate traffic.. here is the milage consumption. price of regular in NJ yesterday was $1.81 , everyone flocked to gas stations since Nov 1st, all over NJ is a .23 cent BS gas tax..
