I am in the middle of a head gasket change and have forgotten to put FIPG on the middle orifice on the timing chain cover.

How crucial is it for the FPG to be in that place?

I am a bit lazy and don't want to go through the hassle of taking in apart and cleaning if it isn't neccessary (I watched the rebuilds on youtube and not all put the FIPG on that orifice.

    Thanks for the answers.

    ^ Form In Place Gasket

    Repair Manual info attached.

Notice it spec's two different "seal packing" types:

Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B
Toyota Genuine Seal Packing 1282B, Three Bond 1282B

I think they can be hard to find, in particular the second. Gasket Masters was using (for everything:

Permatex Ultra Black RTV Gasket Maker (alternate, readily available)
aka: Permatex® Ultra Black® Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker

I am actually worried about the little orifice in the picture.

That's what I figured. I guess the OCD approach would be to pull the cover off and reseal, which is a bit of a groaner for sure. Or: remove the one bolt, apply sealant to washer, underside of bolt head, reinstall, then monitor?

Threebond's catalog says 1207b can be used for coolant. Their technical team also confirmed for me, when I asked via e-mail.

If you use Permatex, I would use the Right stuff line.

I am doing a timing cover and have lost the 10 mm bolt that goes in the center of the cover and has a washer/gasket does anyone know what size that bolt is so I can purchase it at a hardware store. I need the pitch the length and it is a flange head bolt. I also am missing the one from the upper left side of the engine a 12 mm head and need the lenth and thread size as well
    thanks for the help Henry

Looking at Repair Manual, there's two bolts in the middle of the cover:

    I'm guessing it's bolt D?

Not sure it'd be a good idea for responders to remove bolts to check, may start a leak? You can check the depth of the hole easy enough. For the diameter trial-fit some other bolts? Is the cover on, seallant applied and bolts torqued? Or everything still off? With the latter scenario you have a lot of bolts you could trial fit.
