As I noted previously, I'd probably be down to 2/32" @ 55K. Less than 5% of our mileage is on long expressway/interstate runs. Most is around metro Atlanta secondary roads. Lots'o stopping and starting on hills, twisting, winding, reduce speed to 25mph ess curves @ significant grades. Although since, I've been trying to improve our mileage through better driving habits, I'm sure we'll get better mileage on this set. It already looks like we'll go an extra 2K, which is a 5% improvement over the 40K.

So I'm due for some new tires and appreciate this timely thread. But I'm not clear on the width/ratio/diameter specifications.

I've done three online store searches for a 2004 Prius.

    Who do I believe?

I bought Michelin MXV4 tires for my 2005 Prius in April 2007, and after 30,000 miles, I'm mad to find there's 3/32nd tread left on them. The tires are evenly worn, and have been rotated twice since buying the tires. The dealership where I purchased the tires would only give me $132.00 credit on a set of HydroEdge tires (pre-credit cost: $610.00).

I'm not buying more Michelins. Consumer Report's #1 rated tire is the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread. Does anyone know anything about Firestone tires? DRuud

Where did you obtain the LRR figures that show the Nokian WRs are lower in rolling resistance than Michelin? I can't find ratings like that anywhere.
