My tyre change is coming up soon. I have 215/45R17 as stock from factory. The ride is to harsh compared to other cars I drove, even compared with 4WD my friend has. Has anyone change the 215/45R17 to 215/50R17 or 215/55R17 on the stock rim? Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

Change to 15in rims and tyres, you will have a much better ride.

205/50R17 is an alternative that a few members have used. It's pretty much identical outside diameter as stock 15" tire. For some reason that size is often XL (extra load), so not sure: higher profile, BUT a bit firmer?

What pressures are you running? I have stock 17", was running moderately higher pressure, but fell back to 34 psi all 'round, helps a bit. I also take speed bumps at dead slow, lol.

I'm running around 40 psi now, helps a bit with fuel economy, but sometimes I can't stand the harsh ride especially on speed bumps.

I don't really want to swap with 15", not planning to spend some money on the new set of wheels, just want to replace the tires when it runs out, but exploring options to get it softer without sacrificing fuel economy. I'm not on RLL now, as the original tires when I bought the car from toyota certified used doesn't come with RLL, but definitely looking for RLL now.

Michelin Premier A/S aren't available here in Australia. Thinking of Yokohama V551 Advan db, which is also RLL, either on 215/50R17 or 215/55R17. Any opinions on this tire?
