Prius sales are down compared to last year, and the Prime needs bigger incentives from Toyota to move in the Northeast. Now 2018 models are heading out to dealers. Plus a glut of cars coming off lease are heading to the pre-owned market.. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding a deal on either once you decide on which you want.

Well I test drove one yesterday. Definitely a big difference from driving my 2013. Will probably go back to try and make a deal next week. I told them I was only there to drive and look at it yesterday.

For good measure test drive a Volt and an Ioniq but be sure to ask them the price with adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance. The reason is you'll know what the options were if some fan boy tries to ...

I went just to look at one in April, didn't even plan on driving it. A week later I made a deposit.

I'd just paid off my 2011 (purchased in 2012) and planned to drive it for another year or two.

But with the incentives, and knowing my trade would only continue to lose value, it made sense to go ahead with a Prime Advanced. So glad I did.

Best night visibility I have ever had. Blind spot alerts are more appreciated than I expected. The straight hybrid gas mileage is better than my 2011.

Thanks! I am seriously considering it. Loved driving it even for the short time. Now it's all about the numbers.

That was my finding as well. I just did straight hybrid drive of my new PRIME on interstate hwy at average 75+mph, and was amazed to find out the average milage was still above 50mpg. This was without any EV miles. I did similar drives on my previous Gen3 Prius. On Gen3 above 65mph drive knocked down average milage down to mid 40mpg.

Here's another question, have any of you driven the Prime in the snow? My current Prius was actually great in the snow compared to other cars I have had. Jersey can get rough in the winter.

Wouldn't something like a Honda CR-V AWD beat the Prius hand-down in winter driving, especially during heavy winters like we can have in NY?

Maybe but I also drive 60 miles a day for work so I want super gas mileage plus good in snow. LOL ... Is that too much to ask?

I just take a snow day. (Prime weighs 300 lbs more than a Prius if that helps with snow.)

LOL... Tell my bosses that. They never close the office even for a State of Emergency. Taking a snow day = NO pay

FWD is fine for the ocassional heavy snow. It usually isn't the FWD cars I see on the side of the road in a snow storm.

Yes, I'm in Oklahoma City, BUT on Dec 24th, 2009 we were dumped on with 14" of snow (yes a fourteen inch blizzard) in just a few hours time. My 2010 Prius was only a couple of months old and we were out with my wife's brother and sister. I was able to drive 21 miles home without too much trouble even in that deep stuff and that skateboard low car. Tires were new and it had 4 people in it. It did not hurt that I knew how to drive in it and knew back routes with few hills, etc. I got it done. Yes, I'd rather have been in my 4WD 4Runner with 13" of clearance, but the car got it done.

I have always felt that driving in bad/difficult conditions is about 70% driver and 30% vehicle. Not bragging but that's from a lot of years of back country off roading and decades of driving in ice storms. Just my $0.02.

Ran into someone today who told me they just bought a Prius. My first statement to her was you got a Prime? Good choice!

Then she told me she got a 2015 Prius at a great price from Toyota (2 years, 20k miles - apparently there was a decent selection available).

I probably shouldn't have said this but I made a comment along the lines of "It's a good time to pick up low mileage Prius now because current owners are trading them in to get a Prime."
