Don't drive at night in New England states... A blue light is a no-no.

I think it can be overdone...but I'm a sucker for "pretty lights". That looks great. I think I'd want that...and I like the lighted doorsills...

The way I look at it? You pay for a lot of things you end up not liking in life...something harmless you do like? Not a waste...a budgetable expense but not a waste...enjoy.

If you mean the thread where he was 'taking orders' that's dead. We only had something like 22 people and then the thread went dead, so hitting 100 anytime soon was WAY off.

TOMMY KAIRA Toyota Illumination Blue Emblem - Rear Prius ZVW30

install was pretty simple....interior plastic piece pops off, exterior piece has 4 10mm nuts and hatch switch then pops off, remove emblem and clean parts with alcohol before installing new emblem, tapped into license plate power.....DONE!

took me about 30 mins total.

Wow that looks great! I love the Tommy Kaira parts for the Prius. I need to call my local shop asap and order one. I kept putting it off because I want the kit first but after looking at this thread I need this asap!

I don't mean to solicit business, but does anyone wanna retrofit my license plate bulbs with LEDs? Somewhere in norcal, will pay you for your time of course.

hahaha - yep that's the first thing I did when I got my car - its very simple really - inside the rear hatch there's 2 small access doors that pop right off at the top with a flat head screwdriver...turn the bulb holders counterclockwise to loosen and they come right out. I bought here... Bulb White 194 168 T10 5050 SMD 5 LED Light NEW LEDT10 - eBay (item 170564826781 end time Nov-15-10 13:54:42 PST)

I put the same type bulbs in my car as well but on the 2010 it is super easy. On the 2099 (or Gen II's) there isn't an easy access panel like we have so he's got a bit more work involved, unfortunately. Amazing how engineers can overlook something SO easy...

It's super easy to do (Well once you get that large black plastic piece off... there are 11 [if I remember correctly] pins that are holding it up.)

They're 168/194 type bulbs.. common ones

Thanks guys - I've seen the threads on it long ago. The part I don't like is ripping off the plastic panel. I remember that the plastic "nubs" can break or be hard to snap back in. I'm not too handy and prefer if I wasn't the one to do that, and I know the dealer would charge an outrageous amount, if they even agreed to help me.

I've done it a few times and I guess I've been lucky that I haven't broken any pins (funnily enough, some of them actually stay to the hatchback instead of coming off with the plastic panel...). Yes I remember a few ppl here have broken it. I think they're fairly cheap to replace. I would also suggest having WD-40 or Jigga-loo handy. I don't know about the others but my bulb sockets were super super tight to take out the first time. Even my dad couldn't twist it out the first time.
