I have a better idea. Switch to HSI screen tell us the CONS MPG for the trip you are tracking. It has the total miles and Cons MPG. If you divide total mile with Cons MPG, you'll get the actual gallon.

ok just checked - 62.9 miles / 999 mpg so .063 gallons or 1/15th gallon
That doesn't seem right either given the pic shows 1 mile gas used
even if it was really 1.9 miles it doesn't work

    am I missing something ?
note the screen also shows over 60 mpg
(saved 9/10 gallons, 62 miles driven...)

edit - ok figured that one all by myself - 999 is as high at the read goes (its probably higher) messing up this example
    1 mile gas going 60mpg and 61 miles EV = crazy high # not 999 ?

    Yea, I agree.

Engine warm up uses about 0.03 gallons. 61 miles / 0.03 = 2,033 MPG. That 999 limit is the issue.

This method can't be used if your EV ratio is very high.

Another great idea, but like fortytwok said, it isn't practical if someone has a really high EV ratio (which should be more of the norm the further down the road we go). It will just read out 999.

My original idea is having to post only one picture we would get more participants, even if a little error is a byproduct.

I just put in my 8th tank of gas (in 17 months, almost to the day, woo hoo)

By my calculations, I think this tank improves upon my earlier entry. Although, this is just the last tank and my previous entry was for like 4 or 5 tanks of gas.

Not sure if this one should replace my previous entry, but I'll post it here anyway since its my best tank yet.

You can only have one entry? Is that a rule? :)

    Updated!

Tracksyde, you beat your personal best but you didn't move up a spot. :)

And just so there is no confusion...I saw your post of the exact gallons but per the rules I am still just going by the ratio screen. I don't want future posters to feel like they have to post the exact gallons.

No problem.. just thought I'd include it since thats the way the discussion was headed. But I'm OK with your formula. Thanks again for maintaining this for everyone.

Yeah, too bad I didnt move up a spot.. I dont think it will ever happen with my driving patterns. But it gave me a bit more space from 6th place :D

    Tracksyde,
Great Numbers, Especially your numbers since new, those are really nice and consistent.
I'm really impressed Great Job! (y)
Some of us can have a really nice start to a tank, but to do it for that many miles and that many tanks in a row, Superb Job!;)

As others have said...it is pretty much all about your EV miles with as few HV miles as possible. Just to illustrate my sequence of 3424 miles got me 116.7 MPGe...but in EV I got about 191 wh/mile. But on this screen shot...

    Mike1006.jpg

I have 1006 EV miles on only 167 kwh. This is 162 wh/mile...but combined with HV it is only 92 MPGe. The EV ratio is only 59% instead of 82%. (The big efficiency gain is because this included ~100+ miles of EV downhill in Yosemite.) 15%+ better EV efficiency, but much lower MPGe overall.

After I took that shot I drove ~350 miles from San Jose to LA.

    Mike1026.jpg

I dropped to 50% EV and total dropped to 85 MPGe.

It's ok though, because of eventually everyone on the list will have high EV ratios and then it will be about who is more efficient.

Haha, no worries, keep bugging me. It really is extremely easy to update it so not a big deal. I'm just happy to see how high you can take it.

Great job! That's 106.7 MPGe and should be #5.

That'll push me off the list.
