I'm willing to bet this occurred on Hwy401 just west of Toronto (provincial limit = 100km/h = 62.5MPH)... Drivers really fly down that stretch between Toronto and Kitchener, usually to make up lost time from sitting in traffic trying to get out of Mississauga. ;)

probably... here on Hwy 99 or Hwy 1 (roughly 90-100km/h) the drivers stick to 10km/h over max.

I´ve topped it several times...the speedometer show 172-173 km/h when it stops accelerating. Did it last time yesterday on the highway when a Volvo finally moved out of the way. I´m impressed how it accelerates up to the limit, but the battery drops quickly...

I took my 07 Touring up to 106mph on I59 in Mississippi. It sat there for about 10 seconds before I backed it off. I had one passenger with me. It was a surprisingly smooth ride at that speed.

The speed limit on the freeway in North Dakota (and SD also) is 75. I've had mine up to 80 mph while passing. That's plenty fast for me.

107 mph slight downhill to begin with and flat after that. Brought my foot off the pedal slightly and it maintained that speed. It was fast but felt stable to me.

My fastest ride was 136 mph indicated in a friends slightly modified 71' Baracuda 440 6-pack, 6 mpg, Shaker hood and Vitamin-C color scheme. Scared the living daylights out of me as the speedometer started floating and I swear I was airborne going over a highway overpass. Sweeeet! :D

p.s. If I had that car today I'd be half-a-millionaire!

Yes it was 401. Even in Toronto, they fly by. I would go 20-30 kmph over the limit and I was slowing the traffic!

The fastest I have done and sustained was 108 and I have the speeding ticket to prove it. The cop was amazed that it was a hybrid.

Why would you ever want to go fast in a Prius? All you're doing is wasting gas. If you want to do 100, go buy a fast car. Prius was made just for light cruising and stop-n-go traffic. Or else they would have put in a V8 instead of the Synergy drive.

They're their cars. IMHO, they can go as fast as they want. I bought my Prius for its low emissions not to save on gas. Anyone concerned w/ gas prices and saving fuel is better off getting a Yaris or an Aveo (or if they need a midsized hatch a Malibu Maxx or Passat wagon) rather than a Prius since the hybrid premium doesn't justify the fuel savings. Stepping off my soapbox now.

Still breaking in my 07 Touring so I haven't gone above 85 just yet. Once I hit the magic 1000 miles, I will take it out to West Texas and see how fast I can zoom. I pretty much lost every stoplight race so far against Bimmers and 'stangs. I don't expect to beat a GTI or a Civic boy racer. However, I'm hoping I can at least beat an Accent! :p

In my SVT I regualarly break the 130 mph barrier. On my bike, I get in the 120's. To me, 108 mph is not fast.
