Anyone notice that for 2012 the touch control steering wheel buttons
will now orient the increase/decrease of volume, temp, scan, etc. vertically ( as it should be) instead of horizontally as in the 2010/11 models? This is a Prius V pic but the Plug-in is the same.

That is an improvement, more intuitive.

I wish the radio button that jumps to the next preset station would just scan to the next available station. Especially in Satellite radio.

Others probably like it the way it is I suppose, hard to please everyone.

Yep, that's correct, and also is the orientation the regular 2012 Prius will have

Exactly. I don't care about the up/down, I'd just rather have non-menopausal controls. I don't adjust the temperature while I'm driving but I do adjust the fan.

Wonder, if the Prius V rubber inset is available, whether the actual switch positions could be changed around on the 2010?

When left in AUTO mode, the climate control system will vary fan speed with changes in temperature control. Very effective and appropriate fan speed changes, I use the temp control to vary the fan speed regularly.
With a really hot interior I run the temp down on the steering wheel control and the fan blows hard to cool the interior, and when it's comfortable I run the temp back up to a normal comfort level and the fan slows down. Perfect. Some people misunderstand AUTO mode. It's about combining fan speed with temp differential and system demand. Factors like sun-load and humidity are factored in too. Quite a neat system.

Yep and doesn't bother me.. left/right or up/down. The Gen 2 Prius had a mixed layout. Vol was up/down, temp was up/down and track up/down was left/right (which also changed CDs). I miss having most of the automatic climate control buttons on the wheel. The ones I use the most are the recirc, the front defroster and the AUTO on/off.

Yeah lack of climate on the wheel was a real downgrade in usability and even safety imho.

This is a great change. I like how they keep improving every little details.
