Does anyone know the thread size and length of the tow hook for a 2012 Prius?

I'm looking to purchase one of these tow hook license plate mount and want to make sure I get the correct size/length.

STILLEN No Drill Licence Plate Relocator | STILLEN

    Thank you in advance.

The Stillen site is down so I can't see what sizes they actually have, but... It seems to be a wierd (non-conventional) size. M18 x 3.175

Thanks for that Gregg. It seems that none of the Stillen will fit. I found a local shop that will make me one based upon the specs of my tow hook.

A pitch of 3.175mm is exactly 8 threads per inch -- any chance that this is a 3/4 - 8 thread?

^ Should be metric. I'll find out from GoMiniGo, they make a lot of them.

Now that the site is back up, they are not super complicated. If I can get a replacement tow hook from Toyota and you pay for materials and the hook, I could make you one way cheaper than that.

That's why I thought it was weird. It matched perfect with 8tpi on my thread gauge but the major measured .695 the closest I would think was 18mm (.708)

mnml: I set this one up today. It's a standard Toyota thread, same as the Yaris uses. I don't know the depth for your Gen III, but you can measure the length of yours and I could compare. I keep these in stock.

    Hi Garm,

This is exactly what I'm looking for. The length would have to be at least 6" long to clear the curvature of the gen3 bumper. What is the length on the C mount?

I've got some now, made by GoMiniGo. Had to figure out the correct extensions, but the thread is standard Toyota tow hook size.

I bought a colored tow hook from e-bay for $10-15. Took off the colored end and was left with a straight threaded end. From there a trip to Home Depot. It is easier to attatch to the threaded end than the toyota hook which has a loop

for gen 3 owners.. I could measure the length of the one I'm using (got mine directly from JP) and see if it's the same length with what Garm is selling.... if it's the same then you could purchase it from him...

I know the Gen2 tow hook thread pattern is 24mm x 2.0 and needs 5" of clearance.

Any chance of knowing the Thread Pattern or clearance of your setup?
