Toyota Camry Hybrid hybrid battery repair discussion on Reddit

    Not sure what forum is most appropriate. Moderators please move as warranted.

    Guy has a recently purchased Camry Hybrid, warning lights come on, dealership pronounces it dead hybrid battery, requiring replacement. He pulls it and checks cell voltages, finding little variation, then cleans bus bars, reinstalls, and all is good:

    why wouldn't he let them install a battery under warranty?

    nevermind. i wonder what year and how many miles? i hope he keeps posting on how it works out in the long run, not sure he's as done as he thinks he is.

    ya, i suppose you could pay them to take it apart and try doing what he did, could get costly though, and not proven. imagine the complaints to toyota.

    Too bad there's not some middle ground in the labour rates. Cleaning the bus bars is almost like a detailing exercise.

    That's kinda my approach with the 12 volt battery, I like to pull it out of the car every couple of years, clean the posts and clamps, charge and re-install. It doesn't take a lot of brain cells.
