    some day when there is enough demand to be profitable and enough battery capacity.

    they are starting in china because of government policy, and will likely not start here until similar policies develop.

    Had is the operative word, and the most recent one wasn't even really Toyota, but a Tesla conversion. When the 3000 were converted for the contract, Toyota chose not to renew since they thought the Mirai would provide them with the required ZEV credits.
