Toyota Looks To Cut U.S. Staff With Voluntary Buyouts

All costs walk on two feet - even at the Japanese companies. I wonder if Toyota is laying off any workers in Japan - or is all of the cost cutting only being done using US citizens? And just how voluntary is it?

I suspect their program runs like those at other corporations. Take the package now or hold on? Maybe in 6-12 months the package may not be as generous or existant. Sometimes it backfires on the company a bit when too many people or the wrong people bail.

In the future, robots will do everything.
I would highly advise young people today to get a degree in a field related to robotics and CNC-programming.

Bad advice. Not even in the next 30-50 years. There is no such thing as a degree in manufacturing so why would anybody need a degree related to robotics or CNC programming. Engineering is a different story.

...are you suggesting there are not people with college degrees that designed and calibrated these robots?

    Oh!

School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

Try searches for university with say Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering and you will find a few more.
